Marine Conservation Group
About us
The St Agnes Marine Conservation Group is a local community conservation group aiming to protect and conserve our fantastic marine and coastal environment.
We share our passion of safeguarding the ocean as well as the local marine life by raising awareness of issues, sharing our knowledge through a wide-ranging programme of engaging events, and undertaking research and campaigns to better understand and protect our precious marine ecosystem.
The VMCA (Voluntary Marine Conservation Area) of Trevaunance and Trevellas Coves were established in 1997, then in 2012 the St Agnes Marine Conservation Group was set up, with the help of Cornwall Wildlife Trust to support the VMCA and is run entirely by dedicated volunteers.
The coastal waters around St Agnes are an incredibly rich feeding ground for some of the world’s most spectacular marine animals including whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals, basking sharks and ocean sunfish.
The beach at Trevaunance Cove provides easy access to a fabulous area of rock pools stretching as far as Trevellas Cove. A quick look in some of the pools and under rocks and it will soon reveal that the rocky shore is one of the most diverse and fascinating habitats on our coastlines.
We, the St Agnes Marine Conservation Group would love for you to join us to discover, explore, learn as well as enjoy and appreciate the fantastic wildlife and wild places St Agnes has to offer.
